TALK: "Mainstreaming Gender in AMISOM", by Mané Ahmed (Gender Officer of the African Union Mission in Somalia - AMISOM). Presented by The Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies and Canada Research Chair in Gender, Migration and Health. BIO: Mané Ahmed obtained her Master’s Degree in Women’s Studies from the University of Ottawa in 2011 with
the hope of contributing towards the development of Africa and to the
advancement of women rights. For the past two years, she has worked as the
Gender Officer of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), an African
Union Peace Support Operation tasked with aiding Somalia back to the path of peace and security. In this capacity, she has helped to facilitate the creation of Somalia’s first National Gender Policy; her current duties include supporting its implementation.
