The Independent Street Checks Review, led by Justice Michael Tulloch, invites you to a public consultation in Ottawa to hear your views on the effectiveness of street checks, also known as carding, and prevent arbitrary stops and discriminatory public-police interactions.
The practice has negatively affected members of racialized communities, particularly Black youth who have been disproportionately carded. You're invited to share your ideas for addressing racial profiling and improving training and police policies, and more.
Please advise if you can attend any of the above meetings by sending your RSVP to: [email protected]

Supporting a Diversity of Women to be Elected to City Council. Women across diversity have important insights to bring to good decision making. With women being only four of the 24 City Councillors on Ottawa City Council, it is challenging for women’s perspectives to be heard. In the October 2018 Municipal Election, let’s change this.
- Consider why it is important to have a diversity of women representing us on City Council.
- Know what you are looking for in a candidate.
- Consider ways you can support her.
- Learn how to bring your skills to her election campaign and learn skills for running in the next election.
Co-sponsored by Empow(Her) Network and City for All Women Initiative (CAWI).
Organized by women, all are welcome. A light supper will be served.
Reimbursing Expenses: We have limited funds for those who need childcare, bus tickets, or transportation in order to participate. Please RSVP on Eventbrite.
