Ottawa Police Service Human Rights Learning Forum. Registration is now open for the Ottawa Police Service's Diversity and Race Relations Section's inaugural Human Rights Learning Forum. The goal of the forum is the exploration of Human Rights and their intersectionality as it affects and pertains to the police/community relationship. Keynote speakers include Chief Commissioner Renu Mandhane from the Ontario Human Rights Commission and the Office of the Independent Police Review Director, Gerry McNeilly.

Institute of African Studies presents: The contribution of martial arts in the social development of Ethiopians and Africans, with Dr. Tsegaye Degineh, an Ethiopian-German with a 5th degree black belt in JuJitsu who is also the Vice President of the Ju-Jitsu African Union. Dr. Tsegaye Degineh along with Mr. Hannes Daxbacher, the former Technical Director of the German Judo Federation and member of the International Judo Federation’s Military and Police Commission are both subjects in a documentary on the development of Judo and JuJitsu in Ethiopia, by Canadian documentary filmmaker Garmamie Sideau. A short trailer of the documentary also will be shown along with a few words from Garmamie Sideau, followed by a Q&A session. Cost: Free of charge.
