Cathedral Arts presents: The Essence of Joy choral ensemble from the Penn State School of Music, featuring sacred and secular music from the African and African American choral traditions.
Essence of Joy is one of seven faculty conducted choral ensembles in the Penn State School of Music. Organized in November, 1991 by Anthony Leach, the choir performs sacred and secular music from the African and African American choral traditions. Annual campus events include Fall and Spring concerts, ‘A Celebration of African American Music Festival’ and ‘Our Gift in Song.’ The choir involves undergraduate and graduate students from many academic programs at Penn State. The ensemble has performed throughout the eastern, southern and mid-western regions of America. International tours to Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, France, South African, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan have provided wonderful opportunities to collaborate with other choirs and musical organizations around the globe. The choir is travelling to Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City in May 2017.
There is no charge for this concert. However, there will be a free will offering to support the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund for drought and famine relief in Africa. PWRDF is the Canadian Anglican response for emergency relief, refugees, development and justice.

Billets: http://www.nouvellescene.com/spectacles/rencontre-inedite/

Walk With Excellence. #BeMoreCommUNITY is partnering with A Different Booklist Cultural Centre in Toronto for the first ever Walk With Excellence - Ottawa. We are ceremonially walking our graduates to excellence by walking, as a community, from Lisgar HS to the University of Ottawa. There is so much to celebrate about what it's taken for these young adults to get to this day and there is so much for us all that is wrapped in their success. The vision is for these graduates to know that we see them. That we support them. And that we acknowledge all that it's taken to get to this day. That we are proud of them. And that we, the village, are there for them. What can you do? Share the information with your networks, participate by posting a message of congratulations from yourself, your organisations, your family etc., come walk so register yourself, and let's all work together to get as many of our communities' Class of 2017 graduates from our English and French Ottawa-Gatineau schools.
