Zimbabwe achieved majority rule and internationally recognized independence on April 18, 1980 following a long period of colonial rule and a 15-year period of white-dominated minority rule.

Population: 12.6 million (UN, 2010) 
Capital: Harare 
Area: 390,759 sq km (150,873 sq miles) 
Major languages: English (official), Shona, Sindebele
Monetary unit:  Zimbabwe dollar

Motto: "Unity, Freedom, Work"
Anthem: Simudzai Mureza WeZimbabwe  (Shona); Kalibusiswe Ilizwe leZimbabwe  (Sindebele)

Dance.
Celebrate Zimbabwe's 34 years of Independence, lots of Zimbabwean food, music and dance and a lot more entertainment. Featuring: The dynamic Colour of Diversity Marimba Band, Harambee Choir, African drumming and fashion show. Admission: Adults : $10.00 and Students with School ID $5 (includes food and drink).
