Consultations with the African Canadian Community. We are pleased to invite you to participate in community consultations that focus on the issues facing African Canadians in Ontario's child welfare system. This is a project of the African Canadian community, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services, through the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies. The goal is to develop a Practice Framework to support child welfare agencies and staff to better serve African Canadian children and families. A series of consultations will be held across the province with African Canadian parents and youth who were formerly involved with the Children's Aid Society, foster and kin parents, service providers, advocates, educators, social workers, and anyone else who has had experience with CAS and cares about how Ontario's child welfare system affects African Canadians. We want to hear your perspectives about child welfare in Ontario. What are its strengths? What are the challenges? How does it impact African Canadians and their communities? What recommendations do you have for changing the child welfare system to better serve African Canadians? FREE ADMISSION. register online at: www.oacas.org/AfricanCanadians.If you have any questions about this project or the community consultations, please email [email protected].
